Fool me once - shame on you May 04, 2008
By P. Barriga The good: works like it is supposed too! scans to pdf image over text which is allowing me to shift towards a paperless workspace.
The bad: you need to request an CD key over the internet for every time you have to reinstall - hard disk crash - or reinstall because the default installation is incomplete - or re install for a second or third language - install for a second computer at home.
The ugly: Not only will they not send me a CD key - they won't even answer my emails! - The link in the customer service section for support in North America is dead - check it yourself - 404 - and the first email is "We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with our software - please send us your machine ID." - So you send them the information and you don't get a reply. Now I have been ripped for 100$!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Superb OCR but Registration Hassles Jun 19, 2006
By Dr. Rite
"TrueReview"
This software seems brilliant - does a very accurate job of scanning and decoding. It could be improved by allowing for multiple page scans (without having to set a timer for page insert)It will defintely save you time. IT does not appear to have an page storage/filing system like some ocr programs but 5 Stars for its scanning and decoding.
Registration becomes a problem if you have to reinstall the software several times (I redo my computer frequently), it is not smart enough to know it is the same machine and forces you to contact technical support. MS Office will recognise its the same machine so its not a hassle.
If you are interested in document storage and filing on the computer then other ocr might be a better choice. If you want ACCURATE page scanning for modification and changes I would MOST HIGHLY recommend this software.

Amazing software Jan 21, 2007

"Hard worker"
I have been using Readiris 11 for about two and a half months on a project I work on about 4 to 6 hours a day. The project is to put a book I wrote about 25 years ago that was typewritten but never published onto a CD as a course. So it involves using Readiris to read the pages into Word where I edit the work. The Readiris wizard (without tinkering which was a disaster) and pages with dark ink work best. If the pages are light because of typewriter ribbon age, I must first darken them in Photoshop and then print them out for Readiris. I found that Readiris does a wonderful job and is worth every penny.

Horrible Customer Support Jul 22, 2008
By davidrintexas Similar experience to many others here. Despite paying a lot of money for a physical product (not a download), including a unique serial number, every reinstall requires a new "registration number." US customer support always rolls into voicemail, and calls are never returned. I finally chose the menu choice for their server products and got a real person. He stayed on the phone until I was connected to John P. in customer support. He gave me the number I needed within 15 seconds. When I asked why calls were not returned, he said there were 5 technical support people and they had three promotions running. Not much I can do now, except vote with my wallet in the future.

disappointing performance May 29, 2008
By M. Cortes I had to look for the setup.exe file since it would not come up automatically. text recognition kept crashing which was really frustrating because it would not save anything. Crashed about five times then I uninstalled it and returned it after wasting a weekend trying to give the software a chance.
