Professional AutoCAD Software! Jul 23, 2007
By Steven B. Tinkler
"mech designer"
I've been using AutoCAD 2D design software for 10 years. This 2008 version is the best and most useful one yet. I use it to document my machine element designs, and my assembly designs. I simply copy each feature in the proper view into my assembly drawings. The new labeling feature that automatically adjusts to the viewport scale is awesome. With earlier versions I had difficulty opening a detail drawing and seeing the font and dimension sizes have changed! This 2008 version works superbly with MS Vista Ultimate! All the former versions are incompatible with Vista. I recommend it to anyone who needs a world-class mechanical or electrical design program, but does not need to spend 5 times as much for 3-D capability.

Autocad LT 2008 Good Decision Sep 08, 2007
By Eugene Kielmanowicz I like the product but I have a laptop and a desktop and you can only install it on one computer. Autodesk could go a long way to make me happier with the purchase if they gave me a license to use it on both. I installed it on my desktop and it works great.

Autocad LT 2008 Jul 03, 2007
By Jerry B. Dodrill
"braddodrill"
It is a great savings over the full version Autocad 2008, it has limited 3D capability but it will really get you comfortable with Autocad. I am a student and find it very helpful to bring assignments home and get more proficient with the software.

Irritating problem with screen flicker Dec 05, 2007
By Steve from Roanoke I've been using AutoCAD since 1984 and have used the LT version since it came out. I recently upgraded from LT2005 to LT2008 and would be perfectly fine with it except that it seems to have a problem with a screen flicker where the drawing refreshes rapidly and at random. I've uploaded all the updates from Autodesk and even uninstalled and re-installed the software. While the flicker is enough to drive me crazy, the most frustrating thing is that you cannot get any help from Autodesk (it's after the 1 month support period) and they do not even offer a way to report a bug (unless the system crashes and they automatically collect the data). I'm still using XP on my system and am ready to go back to LT2005 for now. In the future, I think I'll wait until they have patch #3 on the download page before upgrading. If you are considering upgrading, wait a while until they get these bugs worked out.

Price vs. Value Dec 18, 2007
By V. Sanders AutoCAD LT 2008 was easy to install and is loaded with features. Too bad we most likely will never use most of them. Pros: It's interface is familiar, it's the industry standard, and works pretty much as is expected. There don't seem to be as many bugs as I experienced in older versions. Cons: Pricey, but everybody knows that, and we're stuck because AutoDesk has the industry in a strangle hold. I don't like how small the tool palettes are when my monitor is in a higher resolution. The printing interface is awkward.
